Evaluated effectiveness of vaccines Pfizer and Moderna against “Delta” -Stamma

Researchers from the United States compared the effectiveness of two MRNA-vaccines – from companies Pfizer and Moderna, respectively – against the strain of the coronavirus “Delta”. With general for drugs, a reduction in efficiency, the risk of becoming infected for those who received the vaccination moderna was almost half smaller. The results of the study are presented in Preprint on the website MEDRXIV.

“Delta” -stam cronavirus was first described in India in December 2020 and recently became prevalent in most countries of the world. It is more infected, and COVID-19 is heavier when it proceeds.

Researchers have observed more than 50 thousand people who have vaccinated from January to July 2021 in order to trace the dynamics of vaccine efficiency over time. Scientists were tracked both cases of infection with the grafs and cases of their hospitalization. For the latest efficacy of both drugs in July, when Delta has become dominated by prevalence, remained high – 81 percent of Moderna and 75 percent in Pfizer.

“However, the effectiveness against infection has decreased for both vaccines,” specialists say in their work. While for the product MODERNA, this figure was 76 percent, for Pfizer, it was 42 percent. The risk is infected for the pfizer vaccinated vaccine was almost twice as more than those who received moderna, researchers celebrate.
