Iran reacted to tanker seizure off coast of UAE

The Embassy of Iran in the UK commented on the seizure of the Asphalt Princess tanker, which goes under the flag of Panama, off the coast of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in their twitter -Kackown.

Iranian diplomats noted that there are currently no information on new incidents with commercial vessels in the region of the Persian Gulf. “To mislead the public of the whole world for the sake of diplomatic benefit in New York – a dishonest game,” said there.

The Asphalt Princess tanker was hijacked by a group of eight or nine people in the Oman Gulf. The incident, presumably, occurred at 97 kilometers from Fujaira Province. According to sources, armed people rose on board the vessel and disabled tracking systems.

In the UK, it was allowed that Iran could be involved in the occurrence. At the same time, the guard of the Guardians of the Islamic Revolution (KSIR) rejected this information. Later it became known that the tanker headed towards the territorial waters of Iran, to Ormuz Strait.
