A share of Russian button telephones

The share of “VimpelCom” subscribers using the button telephones (is the Beeline brand) is about 23 percent. ON RBC reports with reference to the company’s analytical reports.

According to research, most often uses such devices Russians over 65 years old – 37 percent of their total number, as well as residents of the regions. In particular, in Krasnodar and Vladivostok, every fourth resident enjoys them, in Moscow – every fifth. The most popular manufacturers of push-button phones in Russia analysts call ITEL and Nokia.

confirms this statistics and “T2 RTK Holding” (Brand Tele2). Representatives of the company estimated the share of such subscribers by 20 percent of the total. They emphasized that the demand for simple models falls quite slowly, despite the large-scale digitalization of public life. “They are buying children, there is a category of subscribers (and this is not always the elderly), which the phone needs only for calls and for which a long battery charge is critical,” explained from the operator.

In turn, MegaFon argues that the share of subscribers with push-button telephones in Russia is only 17 percent and continues to decline rapidly. “Most often, such devices use customers aged 50 to 70 years old,” the company reported.

In March, it was reported that the animal husband from Tuva Idash Sarygar spent seven days in Taiga without food and survived thanks to a push-button phone that did not discharge despite the frost. The man went to the neighboring village of Eerbek for affairs, but did not take anything with him except the gadget, despite the strong blizzard.
