Former President of Kyrgyzstan revealed details of his interrogation

Former President of Kyrgyzstan Askar Akayev revealed the details of his interrogation. It is reported by Telegram-channel “April TV”.

According to him, in the State Committee of National Security (GKNB), he was accepted “with a welcome”. “It was a very attentive attitude. It was the first interrogation. I came to fully tell how we built a kumtor, for what. The investigation will continue, meetings will be continued,” he said.

Akayev also told that he had already met with the current president of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zaparov in his state residence in Bishkek. “The new leadership has a creative plan, I want to help it in moderation of my abilities,” he stressed. The former head of the republic added that no criminal cases were initiated against him and that he would soon fly to Moscow again.

Earlier in the GKNB, said Akayev was delivered to Bishkek for investigative actions. He is a person involved in corruption in the development of the Kumtor’s gold deposit.

In early July, the department reported that Akayev and another former president of Kyrgyzstan, Kurmanbek Bakiyev, are held in the case of Kumtor. The investigation also establishes the possible involvement of the two other former leaders of the republic, Almazbek Atambayeva and Soorbekov, to the conclusion of pre-beneficial contracts for the state.
