Russia mulling to change salary payment system

In Russia, they were offered to change the salary payment system, making the salary to be translated by phone number. This initiative during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (PMEF) put forward the chief managing director of Alfa-Bank JSC Vladimir Verkhhinsky.

Head of the Central Bank Elvira Nabiullina, who also participated in the discussion, appreciated this idea. She pointed out that there are such banks that would not want to give their “salaries”. If the Corporation concludes an agreement with one of the banks, then the so-called salaries keep money in one bank. “The bank from this receives a certain resource and can offer people some bonuses,” she said.

Nabiullina said that the Central Bank is preparing to spend a pilot project on this. “We are for the less slavery of mobile, salary and so on. There must be a seamlessness of these processes and a person had the right to leave the same system to another, and new technologies give such an opportunity,” the head of the Central Bank.

In March, the Central Bank wanted to allow Russians to translate each other amounts to two million rubles as part of a system of rapid payments. In addition, from February 2021, payment of goods and services for QR codes will be available, from September of the same year – periodic payments. Since January 2022, citizens will be able to receive translations from legal entities, including brokers and management companies.
