Roscosmos State Corporation Dmitry Rogozin rated a fast flight of a person on Mars phrase “Full absurd”.
He stated this at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (PMEF-2021), reports TASS.
The head of Roskosmos said that people who are far from the space industry are fascinated by the stories about the charter of the person to another planet. He also noted that such conversations are just a successful marketing move.
“But people are technically dedicated to understand that this is an absurre absurd basis,” Rogozin appreciated the prospects. According to him, flight on Mars is carried out in the startup window, which opens every two years. At the same time, the flight can take up to nine months.
“How to shove a hundred people like sprats in a bank, without the possibility of moving for nine months, into a spacecraft? Then they will arrive there. Two years are waiting for the opening of the next startup window to fall back to Earth,” said the head “Roskosmos”.
Earlier in May Dmitry Rogozin in Twitter congratulated China from the first in the history of this country with a successful soft landing on Mars and recalled that in 2022 the European-Russian EXOMARS mission will be sent to Mars.
Nevertheless, in 2015, the head of Roskosmos agreed with the inexpediency of the allocation of large sums on the preparation of space expeditions to the Moon and Moss. In his opinion, at the current state of the budget, cosmic ambitions will undermine the economic interests of the country.
