Russia: prices of carrots and potatoes have grown sharply

For a week From June 8 to 15, the rise in prices in Russia amounted to 0.12 percent, it is less than in the previous week, where inflation in the amount of 0.16 percent was recorded. This is stated in the report on the Rosstat website.

The prices of vegetables have grown the strongest, especially for carrots (10.2 percent) and potatoes (7 percent). Also, the cabbage white cabbage (4.4 percent) and onions are ones (1.1 percent).

Cucumbers and tomatoes, on the contrary, have become cheaper by 5.5 and 4.9 percent, respectively. From the beginning of the year, carrots have grown in price more than twice – by 102.68 percent, potatoes – by 82.09 percent, and cabbage – by 67.62 percent.

Also a week above the average price increase is recorded on canned meat for baby food (0.92 percent), margarine (0.57 percent), caramel (0.44 percent), lamb (0.37 percent), pork, Sausages, sausages, sausages, sour cream, chocolate candies (0.3 percent), ice cream fish (0.23 percent), rennet cheeses, beef (0.16 percent), cookies (0.15 percent).

Previously, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishoustin instructed the Ministry of Agriculture with maximum attention and responsibility to approach monitoring prices for socially important products. He admitted that the situation with prices for socially significant products remains difficult, although the government has already taken action.

According to the results of June, for the first time in five years, inflation in annual terms exceeded 6 percent. This circumstance made the Central Bank strengthen the tightening of monetary policy and to raise a key rate for the third time, and for the second time – immediately by 0.5 percent.
