Demograph explained possible risk of raising retirement age for five years

Demographer Vladimir Timakov told about the possible risk of raising the retirement age for five years in case women will not begin to give birth more. He told the Komsomolskaya Pravda that for the first time in Russian history the number of Russians retired more than the number of majority reaches.

“If such trends continue, then in the 1930s will have to raise a five retirement age for five years,” the specialist assured.

According to Timakov, if humanity cannot defeat the coronavirus epidemic, the life expectancy will be further reduced. However, if it is possible to maintain the growth rate of the life expectancy of 15 years ago, then in the mid-30s “will have to raise the retirement age again.”

On the question of whether men will retire at 70 years old, and women in 65, Timakov answered the affirmative. “These are quite real numbers, Europe is already committed to these marks. Either it will have to reduce the amount of pensions,” the demographer expressed the opinion.

Earlier in June in the Russian Ministry of Labor, the Russians offered to prescribe pensions automatically. To do this, citizens will need to submit a special application to the public service website. The determination of the pension will be determined on the basis of information of individual accounting, as well as data enabled in the procedure of interdepartmental information interaction and from federal state information systems.
