The United Nations (UN) predicts the transformation of drought to a new pandemic, from which there will be no vaccine. This is reported in the report of the organization published on the UN Office on Disaster Risk Reduction.
The document says that the problem of drought affected more than one and a half billion people across the planet and led to economic losses in the amount of more than 124 billion dollars. It is noted that the problem aggravates the rapid growth of the population of the Earth.
The organization concluded that the authorities of the countries of the world should urgently take measures to reduce the harmful effects of climate change and drought for nature and people.
The representative of the Secretary General in the management of Mami Miztori noted that in the coming decades many people would live in conditions of lack of water. “Drought is about to become the next pandemic, and there is no vaccine for her treatment,” the RIA news quotes. The diplomat added that the idea of the spread of drought solely in Africa is erroneously, and people in other regions will also come together soon with this phenomenon.
