Head of UN reelected for second term

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterresh re-elected for a second term. This decision was taken by the UN General Assembly, reports Reuters.

The second five-year term of the gherrysh at this post will begin on January 1, 2022. He occupies this position since 2017, earlier was the High Commissioner of the Organization for Refugees. Before the career in the UN, Guterresh built a political career in Native Portugal.

He headed the Portuguese Socialist Party when she won the elections, and from 1995 to 2002 he was the Prime Minister of Portugal. In September 2020, Guterresh proposed the reform of the UN Security Council, coordinate with member countries. In early June 2021 supported his candidacy for re-election.

In May 2021, Guterresh visited Moscow and met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov.
