On June 18, members of the city administration, led by the mayor of Massimo Coppil, lay a laurel wreath to the Gorky monument on Piazza della Vittoria. Gorky arrived in Sorrento in April 1924 and spent nine years there. Over the years, he wrote the “Life of Klim Samgin”, “Artamon Business”, “Notes from the Diary” and a lot of essays.
In May 2011, in the city of Capri on the same island, the names of Maxim Gorky was named one of the streets.
