The Geneva authorities had to urgently buy the flags of Russia and the United States to prepare for the summit of the countries on June 16. It is reported by the newspaper TagBlatt.
According to representatives of the Security Service of the city, the flags that were already in the city did not have enough. Therefore, the Geneva authorities had to make additional purchases. TagBlatt emphasizes that Switzerland is hoping for a positive course of negotiations: the publication notes that the “harmonious combination of American and Russian flags” can be considered an omen.
The amount that the authorities spent on their acquisition is not given.
TASS adds that the flags are decorated with Geneva Airport and Mont Blanc Main Bridge.
Putin’s summit and Biden will be their first personal meeting from the moment the US President’s entry into office. As expected, it will continue about five hours and starts at 13:35 local time (14:35 MSK). Until its start, politicians are photographed with the President of Switzerland Gi Parmelen. At 15:55 MSK will begin an expanded meeting of Byyden and Putin with the participation of delegations, and at 17:40 Moscow time it will take place its second round.
It is planned that the parties will discuss bilateral relations, an international agenda, strategic stability issues, a settlement of regional conflicts, as well as cooperation in the fight against Pandemic COVID-19. Following the meeting, the leaders will hold separate press conferences.
