Relatives and familiar debtors will protect from collectors

State Duma adopted a law that prohibits collectors to communicate with relatives, familiar or debtor neighbors.

Previously, borrowers often indicated third parties for appeals about the return of overdue debt, but they were not previously repaid by their agreement. Now the law will protect these people from collector calls. The interaction will be possible only in the presence of written consent. The law also provides for their right at any time to withdraw before this consent.

In June, the State Duma deputy Vitaly Milonov said that collectors should be deprived of pensions, the right to occupy any position and “call themselves a citizen”, as well as sentenced to ten years of correctional work.

The National Organization of Professional Collector Agencies (Tilt) appealed to the head of the Investigative Committee of Russia Alexander Bastrykin due to attacks in his address. The organization believes that words policies fall under Article 282 of the Criminal Code on the excitation of hatred or hostility.
