US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken stated that the Raduzhnaya flag will be raised over the State Department in support of the LGBT community, RIA Novosti reports.
The speech in Washington Blinken said that the “progressive” flag will be waved in the State Department from June 26 to 28. He stressed that June 26 in the United States celebrate the anniversary of the legalization of same-sex marriage, and on June 28, the anniversary of the riots in the gay club in New York in 1969. This event is considered one of the first examples when representatives of the LGBT movement opposed pressure from the public.
At the same time, Bernken did not specify, where the flag will be squeezed – outside or inside the State Department building. It is noted that the “progressive” flag, except for the colors of the rainbow, includes black and brown stripes as a sign of solidarity with African Americans. In addition, a yellow triangle and purple circle are applied to the cloth: these figures symbolize transgender and intersexuals.
Previously, the US Defense Ministry refused to post Flags of the LGBT community at military bases. At the same time, the department stressed that the solution “is in no way reflected in respect and admiration, which we experience our LGBTK + staff in uniform and without it.”
