The car’s luxury tax in Russia decided to determine in a new way: in the State Duma, they were offered to tax for luxury cars more than four million rubles. This was announced by the First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Budget and Taxes Sergey Katasonov (LDPR), his words leads to Moscow Agency.
Currently, the lower plan of the cost of cars, based on which the luxury tax is determined, is three million rubles. It is offered to raise up to four million. Prices for cars grow, and because of this, even indispensable models fall under the tax. “We raised the numbers, based on simple logic: we counted when the last time this figure was indicated, I looked at inflation. Today it is practically twice this amount to raise this amount,” said Catamon.
In March 2021, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia expanded the list of cars taxable for luxury. Owners of such cars will pay the transport tax in an increased amount.
Total in the list now 1387 models, 87 more than last year. The minivans of Citroen Spaceter and Peugeot Traveler, the top versions of Skoda Kodiaq, Mazda CX-9, Honda Pilot, Kia Mohave, Toyota Fortuner, BMW 3-Series and Mercedes-Benz C-class are added.
In early June, Russians warned about the new rise in price of cars. 29 producers changed prices for new cars in May, of which 27 stamps have risen in price. In general, over the past six months, prices for new cars grew by 5-10 percent, pulling the cost of machines with mileage. There are several reasons: currency rate fluctuations, inflation and car deficiency.
