International Economic Forum starts in St. Petersburg

In St. Petersburg, the main economic event in Russia starts from the beginning of the Pandemic COVID-19 – International Economic Forum (PMEF). RIA Novosti notes that from 2 to 5 June, representatives of business circles will be gather to discuss key economic issues.

PMEF will pass with strict compliance with epidemiological safety measures, taking into account the requirements of the World Health Organization.

As part of the forum, the sessions of the International Discussion Club “Valdai” will traditionally be held. This year, one of them will be devoted to the risks of sanctions for the global financial system and business. In particular, the Deputy Minister of Finance Vladimir Kolychev, Postpredred Rossi with the EU Vladimir Chizhov, General Director of the Development Bank of Qatar Abdulaziz Nasser al-Khalifa. Another “Valdai” session will be held on the topic “The right to privacy in the world of Big Data.”

Earlier, the first deputy prime minister Andrey Belousov said that the numerous of foreign delegations to the PMEF will be American. He clarified that the delegations from the United States are traditionally the largest, and since Davos “talk” did not work out, it means that now everyone will come here. ” “It seems to me that the tougher rhetoric and cooler sanctions, the more people come. Some kind of regularity we have, apparently, it is interesting to see how they cope,” he said.

The Forum Partner’s country is Qatar this year. More than a hundred participants will arrive from China and Germany. “From the UK, France, Italy will come many people. Many companies come. The business part is more than 1,200 companies,” said Belousov.
