“Tax on rich” in Russia offered to increase

Member of the Public Chamber Evgeny Nifantyev proposed to increase the “tax on the rich” introduced in Russia from this year – from 15 to 18 percent, RIA Novosti reports.

“Increased NDFLs for citizens with income of more than five million [rubles per year] only two percent [in reality – by two percentage points] allowed to collect for the year {in reality a new rate is valid from the beginning of 2021} 60 billion rubles in Charitable Foundation “Circle of Good”, which is purchasing medicines for seriously ill children, “Nifantyev noted.

According to him, additional increase in tax by three percentage points – up to 18 percent – will additionally collect about 100 billion rubles per year. These funds can be sent to providing pensioners with free medicines.

Also, Nifantyev noted, a public request for justice and progressive tax scales will be satisfied. At the same time, wealthy citizens who will affect the increase will treat it with understanding, I am sure member of the Public Chamber.

Initiative to increase income tax for people with an annual income of more than five million rubles in the spring of last year, President Vladimir Putin acted. In October, the relevant law was adopted, from the new year a measure came into force.
