Pag of the Latvian authorities to replace the Russian flag to Olympic during the World Hockey Championship – the manifestation of a frank Russophobia by the Baltic state. This was stated by the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Maria Zakharov at a briefing, RIA Novosti reports.
“Unfortunately, these unworthy manipulations fully fit into frankly Russophobic line, which is held by the Latvian ruling top,” the Agency of the word Zakharova.
Earlier on the same day, in the official statement on the Foreign Ministry website stated that the manifestation of such disrespect for the Russian side of Latvia may seek to get into the list of unfriendly Russia countries.
On May 24, the Riga authorities removed the Russian tricolor from the square, where the flags of the participating countries of the World Championship are presented. The organizers of the World Hockey Championship in Riga referred to the decision of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). The domestic team performs at the tournament under the auspices of the OCP.
