The United States remains superpower, but they have competitors on the scale of the economy. This was stated by the press secretary of President Dmitry Sadkov, reports TASS. The representative of the Kremlin pointed out that now the United States accounts for a quarter of the world economy.
On the other hand, he noted, now there were already unions in the world, which equal or even overtake the United States on the scale of the economy. “There was even one country, which, according to different indicators, at a parity of the purchasing power, is ready to be compared with the United States or even overtake – this is China,” he commented.
At the end of March, Chief Economist Economist Intelligence Unit Simon Baptist said that the United States will be richer than China, judging by the GDP per capita.
Judging by the latest reports of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), China’s GDP per capita last year was predicted at $ 10,582, it is about six times less than in the United States. “I think it is unlikely that China will reach the American GDP level per capita – our wealth measure is at least over the next 50 years, if ever,” concluded Baptist.
