Valery Vladimirovich Polyakov – Hero of the Soviet Union, Hero of Russia, Cosmonaut’s pilot of the USSR, owner of the world record of the longest flight flight (437 days).
For the first time, Valery Vladimirovich went to orbit on August 29, 1988 as the first cosmonaut-researcher of the Soyuz TM-6 and the Orbital Complex “Peace” together with Vladimir Lyakhov and Abdul Ahad Momandom (Afghanistan). He worked on the “world” under the program EO-3 (main expedition) together with V.G. Titov and M.Kh. Manarov and according to the EO-4 program together with A.A. Volkov, S.K. Crying and J.L. Coreyne (France).
As part of the Flight of Valery Polyakov, a number of medical and biological research related to the study of the effects of long-term space flights on the health and performance of astronauts were worked out. In flight, he applied new methods of medical support for long expeditions. On April 27, 1989, Alexander Volkov, Vladimir Polyakov and Sergey Cricalev successfully landed on the Soyuz TM-7 spacecraft. Valery Vladimirovich’s second cosmic flight was performed from January 8, 1994 to March 22, 1995 as a cosmonaut-researcher at the Soyuz TM-18 spacecraft and OK World.
