As noted by Daily Express, similar missiles capable of developing speed above 5 Machs and possessing high maneuverability, which makes it difficult to intercept, can significantly change the course of future military conflicts in the event of their occurrence. At the same time, while Russia, as well as China, exceed its potential Western rivals, in particular the United States, in the development of a new generation missiles, is stated in the material.
On the tests of “Zirkonov” in the Arctic became known on March 25. It was noted that government tests of these missiles will begin approximately in May-June.
Earlier it was reported that in the current year the Zircon’s hypersonic missile is planned to be applied from the nuclear submarine (APL) to 560 “Severodvinsk” project 885 “ash.”
In December 2020, the Russian Defense Ministry published on Youtube a roller with a launch of a hypersonic missile “Zirkon”, implemented from the edge of the “Admiral pots” of the project of 22350. The corresponding test start was conducted from the water area of the White Sea for the purpose at the Polygon of Chija in the Arkhangelsk region. The rocket developed the speed of eight Mach numbers and struck the coast target at a distance of 350 kilometers.
