World has reduced consumption of wine record

World wine consumption last year decreased by record three percent compared with 2019, reaching a minimum since 2002. In this case, the production of this alcoholic beverage has grown by one percent. This is stated in the report of the international organization of viticulture and winemaking (OIV).

Reducing the consumption of wine is associated with restricting the work of bars and restaurants and a decrease in the number of tourist trips against the background of the coronavirus pandemic. Most of all drinking drinks decreased in China (minus 17.4 percent) and South Africa (minus 19.4 percent).

In Russia, on the contrary, an increase of three percent was recorded. Most of all wine consumption has increased in Brazil (18.4 percent).

Previously, the State Duma deputies stated that strong alcohol in Russia need to be sold only in specialized stores. A program to combat alcohol abuse, which is under development, is designed until 2030. Its main element should be educational activities, the authors believe.

Prices for vodka and domestic production this year can grow at least 5 percent, Russian wines will rise in price by 10-15 percent, predicts the director of the research center of the federal and regional alcohol markets Vadim Trobiz.
