China expressed a protest of Japan due to solutions to drain water from “Fukushima” into ocean

Foreign Ministry of the People’s Republic of China expressed protest of Japan due to solutions to merge into the ocean from the emergency NPP “Fukushima-1” water purified from most dangerous radioactive substances. This is reported by TASS with reference to the statement.

The Chinese authorities intend to discuss this issue with the international community and, perhaps, take a number of countermeasures.

“Similar actions indicate extreme irresponsibility, they cause serious damage to health and threaten the safety of the population of neighboring states,” the statement said. Also in the text it is specified that the unilateral actions of the Japanese side can lead “to infection with the radiation of the Pacific Ocean and lead to genetic disorders.”

Earlier it was reported that the Government of Japan was officially allowed to merge water from the Fukushima-1 emergency NPP into the ocean. The process of preparation for discharge into the ocean of water will take about two years.

In 2011, an earthquake of 9.0 magnitude was occurring in Japan, as a result of which more than 18 thousand people were killed, and an accident occurred at Fukushima-1 nuclear power plant. Ten years later, on February 13, 2021, a powerful earthquake occurred in the northeast of Japan, the magnitude of which was 7.1. The epicenter was recorded in the Fukushima Prefecture area. The representative of the National Meteorological Department of Japan said that the underground shocks were aftershock 2011. February 14 at NPPs in Fukushima found a leakage of radioactive water.
