United States launched an investigation against company that left “Nord Stream-2”

The US has launched an investigation into oil and gas service company Baker Hughes. Reported by RBC with reference to Reuters.

US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Investigated

Baker Hughes clarified that they do not know what their activities could be the reason for the investigation, but added that it concerns the sale of products and services within projects that came under Washington’s sanctions. The company has also begun its internal review for compliance with US sanctions.

Baker Hughes is one of 18 companies that have withdrawn from the Russian Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline. As the German newspaper Tagesspiegel previously reported, citing the report of the US Secretary of State to Congress, this was due to the threat of sanctions from the United States.

Nord Stream 2 is a gas pipeline from Russia to Germany, laid along the bottom of the Baltic Sea.
