Militants kidnap dozens of children from school in Nigeria

Militants of an unknown organization attacked a high school in the Nigerian state of Niger and abducted dozens of children. The missing are 27 schoolchildren, Reuters reports citing local authorities.

The armed men neutralized the security of the educational institution and fled with the children. The Nigerian authorities have announced a search operation, announced on television by President Muhammadu Bukhari.

Who exactly is behind the attack is not reported. Prior to that, similar actions were organized by the Islamist group “Boko Haram”, which swore allegiance to the “Islamic State” (a terrorist organization banned in the Russian Federation), but kidnapping is a common practice among ordinary Nigerian bandits.

So, on December 11, a group of criminals attacked a boarding school in Kankar. Unknown persons arrived on motorcycles and organized indiscriminate shooting, after which they took more than 350 boys hostage for ransom. They were rescued from captivity unharmed.
