Putin remembered privatization in 90s

Privatization based on the 1990s model is unacceptable, Russian President Vladimir Putin said, writes TASS.

Recalling privatization in the 90s, the head of state stressed that it should improve the structure of the economy. It is impossible to give away something that is worth millions for a penny, Putin said. “Privatization in itself, like early privatization, especially as it was done in the 1990s in some areas, is unacceptable to us,” the president said.

Earlier, Russian academics suggested returning the state plan and using citizens’ funds. They are also confident that funding for anti-crisis measures should be doubled. They propose to find additional funds through government borrowing and mass privatization.

Economists want to use money to raise the minimum wages to 20 thousand rubles in 2021, unemployment benefits – to 20-25 thousand rubles, and pensions – to 22 thousand rubles.
