United States has conceived to change its position on “Nord Stream-2”

The administration of US President Joe Biden is thinking about revising the policy on Nord Stream 2. Washington is assessing whether it is necessary to abandon sanctions against companies and individuals involved in the construction. The Wall Street Journal reports.

The US administration expires on February 16 when it must submit a list of people and companies that, in its opinion, contribute to the completion of the gas pipeline from Russia to Germany. Individuals and legal entities included in this list may subsequently be subject to US sanctions.

However, Washington can go to meet Berlin, which is America’s critical ally in Europe, and ease the sanctions pressure on the project and its participants, the newspaper said. This decision can be regarded as a geopolitical victory for Moscow.
