Most Americans supported Trump’s ban on holding public office

The majority of Americans (56 percent) supported the impeachment of former US President Donald Trump and the ban on him from holding any public office. ABC News reports this with reference to a survey conducted by the analytical company Ipsos.

At the same time, 43 percent of the country’s residents opposed this initiative. The survey participants also answered the question of which party has more radical extremists: 42 percent of respondents said they were in the Republican Party, and 25 percent in the Democratic Party.

Earlier it was reported that American lawmakers may suspend the impeachment procedure of Donald Trump on the evening of February 12, if it lasts until that time. Trump’s lawyer David Sean has asked lawmakers to suspend proceedings due to the need to observe Shabbat.

On January 14, the US House of Representatives voted to impeach Trump in connection with the riots in Washington. The last vote was the second attempt to remove Trump from office. Democrats motivate the decision to impeach Trump, including by the fact that after the end of the process, he will not be able to run for president. This is the first time the US has attempted to remove a state leader from office after the end of his presidential term. It is assumed that the process of impeachment of Trump in the US Senate will begin on February 8.
