“Bernie Sanders’ mittens” will sell for thousands of dollars

American teacher Jen Ellis, who knitted mittens for Senator Bernie Sanders, put up new pairs of items at a charity auction. This was reported by the CNN TV channel.

The teacher knitted three more pairs of warm accessories. “I have heard your requests and am pleased to announce that I am making some more mittens for sale at the auction, the funds from which will go to charity,” she wrote in Twitter January 24th with photos attached.

The politician became the hero of memes because of his appearance at the inauguration of US President Joe Biden and made fun of social networks. He appeared at the event in attire that did not match the formal dress code. He was photographed in the Burton brand park, which specializes in equipment for snowboarders. His look was complemented by the mittens that Ellis presented to Sanders. The American makes mittens using yarn from old sweaters and fleece made from recycled plastic bottles.

One pair that most closely resembles Sanders’ mittens is on display at Charity Auctions Today. Their proposed price already exceeds seven thousand dollars (533 thousand rubles). The proceeds will be donated to Outright Vermont, which supports the LGBTQ movement in the state.

Another pair is for sale on eBay. Currently, the product is offered for up to two thousand dollars (152 thousand rubles). The money will be sent to the Passion 4 Paws Vermont organization to protect stray dogs in Vermont. Another pair of mittens, according to the TV channel, is tied in the colors of the rainbow. The proceeds from them will go to the fund of the college where daughter Ellis is studying.

Earlier, Texas resident Toby King crocheted a 22-centimeter figure of a senator in the same outfit and pose in which he was captured at the ceremony. She put it up on eBay, promising to give all the proceeds to charity dinners in need of Meals on Wheels. The doll was sold for 20.3 thousand dollars to a person who wished to remain anonymous.
