Kremlin saw no problem with food shortages

Russian President’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov said that in general, the government is coping with keeping prices for basic foodstuffs, and the head of state, Vladimir Putin, constantly keeps this issue under control. Interfax reports.

Peskov admitted that setting price caps at the state level may not work in some small stores, and in some cases even leads to a deficit. At the same time, he noted that he does not see a big problem in the situation.

According to the Kremlin spokesman, the main task is to keep prices at an acceptable level in large retail chains, where the majority of citizens buy food. It is with them that the government is actively working and monitoring the implementation of decisions. As for the deficit, such a possible consequence of state control is also known, so the relevant departments deal with the issue every day.
