Share of Russians working remotely is

Now 14 percent of Russians continue to work remotely, the majority (86 percent) work in a regular format. This is evidenced by the results of a survey conducted by the Rabota.ru service; a copy of the study is at the disposal of the Lenta.ru editorial office. More than four thousand people from all regions of the country took part in the survey, which was conducted in January 2021.

Most telecommuting employees work in the IT field – it was noted by 16 percent of respondents. Another 13 percent of those surveyed indicated that they work remotely in the fields of education and sales. Every tenth remote employee is from marketing, advertising and PR.

Almost a quarter (24 percent) of telecommuters said that they would continue to work in this format for several more months, 23 percent of those surveyed said that they are going to return to their offices soon, and another 26 percent of companies will partially retain their telecommuting.

Earlier on Wednesday, January 27, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin relaxed the requirement for mandatory remote work. Now the need to transfer 30 percent of employees to a remote format is advisory in nature. The decision on whether to return employees to the offices or leave them remotely will be made by the leaders of the organizations. The decision was made in connection with the improvement of the epidemiological situation in the capital.

Earlier in January, analysts from the Asana team project management platform identified the biggest barriers to productive telecommuting. We are talking about a lot of tasks, lots of emails, as well as meetings and calls.
