VLC 3.0.22, DVBlast 3.5, Multicat 2.4 Released

The multimedia player VLC 3.0.22 has been released, with ready-made builds available for Windows and macOS. The code is written in C and distributed under the LGPLv2.1 license. Key changes in this release include: support for building with Qt6, a dark theme option in the Qt-based interface, Windows builds for the ARM64 architecture, support for MUS audio files, and the Sony A_ATRAC/AT1 codec in Matroska multimedia containers.

Improvements also include better visualization of low frequencies on the spectrogram, support for increasing the frame rate on AMD GPUs, enhanced support for the FLAC audio codec, and fixes for crashes when unpacking various media containers. Decoding content using libraries libdca, libmpeg2, and liba52 is now disabled by default, replaced by the libavcodec library. Vulnerabilities have been fixed, including out-of-bounds writing in decompressors and decoders, access to already freed memory area in the SVG decoder, and reading from areas outside buffer boundaries in various decompressors and decoders.

The VideoLAN project has also released updated versions of tools such as DVBlast 3.5, multicat 2.4, and biTStream 1.6.
