KDE Refines Interface, Adds XRandr Emulation in KWin

The latest weekly report on KDE development has been released. Significant changes are being made for the upcoming release of KDE Plasma 6.6 on February 12:

  • The KWin composite manager has implemented emulation of XRandr, a feature used to dynamically change resolution, rotate, transform, and mirror screen content. This support has resolved issues with displaying full-screen X11 applications on widescreen screens when using XWayland. (source)
  • The modernization of dialog boxes for accessing isolated applications to external resources (XDG portal) is ongoing, with a simplified interface for selecting windows and screens. (source)
  • A pin button has been added to the web browser and volume control widget for leaving open pop-up windows called from the panel. (source)
  • There have been improvements in displaying disk status on the SMART diagnostics page in the configurator. (source)
  • The height of headers and indents between elements in lists has been unified in applications based on the Kirigami and QtWidgets frameworks.
  • In a panel widget with an application menu (Kicker), adjustments have been made to show submenus when quickly moving the cursor over top-level menu items. The submenu is now expanded to the left of the parent element when the widget is placed in the right sidebar. (source)
  • The Kickoff application menu now allows the use of cursor keys to return from the area with search results to the field for entering a search term request. (source)
